iLivestock Recognised in Scotland’s Life Sciences Strategy 2035
Scotland officially unveiled its ambitious Life Sciences Strategy 2035 today at the Life Sciences Innovation Hub in Dundee. The strategy is a collaboration between Life Sciences in Scotland and the Scottish Government, setting out a bold roadmap to grow the sector into a £25 billion industry over the next decade. iLivestock was proud to attend the launch event and to be highlighted as one of the strategy’s national success case studies.

The event, hosted by the Life Sciences Scotland Industry Leadership Group (ILG), brought together leaders from across the country’s innovation ecosystem. Attendees heard remarks from Richard Lochhead MSP, Minister for Business and Employment, along with contributions from Professor Sir Mike Ferguson of the University of Dundee and Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, Scotland’s Chief Scientist for Health.
The strategy outlines Scotland’s vision to become “the most effective environment in the world for developing, testing, manufacturing and commercialising life sciences innovation.” It emphasises the powerful role life sciences play across human, animal, microbe and plant health—an expansive definition that recognises the importance of digital agriculture and the animal health sector.
As one of the case studies featured in the strategy, iLivestock represents the strength and potential of Scotland’s growing agritech and animal health community. The company’s inclusion highlights how data-driven livestock management contributes directly to Scotland’s global competitiveness, sustainability goals and cross-sector innovation ambitions.
“We’re proud to have been recognised in the new Life Sciences Strategy,” said Ewen Wardman, CEO & Co-Founder of iLivestock. “The strategy’s focus on commercialising life science opportunities by supporting start-ups and scale-ups aligns perfectly with our mission. It gives us even more momentum as we work to helping livestock farmers move their business forward with our technology.”

The roadmap commits to targeted support for high-growth companies like iLivestock. This includes enhanced infrastructure, advanced manufacturing capability, improved access to investment, and a new series of agile innovation “sprints” designed to accelerate delivery.
The event was held at the Life Sciences Innovation Hub in Dundee. The city is home to one of Scotland’s strongest life sciences clusters and the internationally respected University of Dundee. It was a fitting location for the launch of the strategy.
