iLivestock Featured in The Scotsman on Scotland’s Business Networks

We’re pleased to share that iLivestock has been featured in The Scotsman as part of an article exploring how Scotland’s business networks, awards and accelerator programmes support growing technology companies.

Written by business journalist Jeremy Grant, the article asks whether accelerator programmes deliver meaningful value beyond publicity and recognition. iLivestock was highlighted as an example of how the right programme can provide practical mentoring, valuable connections and support for international growth.

From initial scepticism to practical support

Our CEO and Co-founder, Ewen Wardman, spoke to The Scotsman about iLivestock’s experience of KPMG’s Tech Innovator competition, where we were named the Scotland regional winner in 2025.

Ewen admitted that he had initially been sceptical about taking part in accelerator programmes. However, the guidance and feedback provided by KPMG’s mentors, advisers and judges quickly demonstrated their practical value.

The programme helped iLivestock refine how we present the business to investors and introduced the team to specialists within KPMG’s international network.

“It was just nice to have someone in a big firm that was genuinely trying to help,” Ewen told The Scotsman.

Supporting international growth

Those connections have continued to benefit iLivestock beyond the competition itself.

As the business expands internationally, including entering the Argentine market, iLivestock has been able to access specialist support from KPMG’s local tax experts.

The article concludes that networks are often the “secret sauce” behind accelerator programmes. For growing companies, their real value lies not simply in winning an award, but in gaining access to people, knowledge and opportunities that would otherwise be difficult to reach.

For iLivestock, the experience has reinforced the importance of Scotland’s collaborative technology and investment ecosystem as we continue taking our livestock-management technology into new markets.
