James Warwick Takes South West Beef Farmer of the Year 2025

We congratulate Devon farmer James Warwick on being named South West Beef Farmer of the Year 2025 for his exceptional stockmanship, business sense, and enthusiasm for innovation and farm technology. At Broompark Farm, James runs a grass-based beef enterprise featuring pedigree South Devon cattle. He inherited his grandfather’s suckler herd as a teenager and has steadily expanded it into a forward-looking business, now including around 30 pedigree cows and a flock of 350 breeding ewes.

James’ dedication to breeding, rearing, and finishing healthy livestock is second to none. With a focus on pedigree South Devons, he continually improves genetics, calving efficiency, and herd health. His hard work is paying off. Nearly all of his heifers now calve at two years old, significantly impacting productivity and profitability.

What sets James apart is his openness to new ideas and technology, to improve things on the farm. From digital weigh bars and EID tagging to iLivestock software for tracking performance, he demonstrates how modern tools and working with technology can drive real business results, while complementing good stockmanship. Congratulations, James!

James - also known as FarmerJimbo97 on Instagram - received his award on 6th November at Somerset County Cricket Club, where over 240 guests attended the black-tie ceremony celebrating the ninth South West Farmer Awards.
